Realms of Arkania Spoilers
Welcome to the new Computer Game Spoilers section of
my gaming website. I added this section because I recently received questions about the plots of two different games which, to my surprise
and embarrassment, I had totally forgotten the answers to. Then, to my further surprise, I was unable to find any existing website that
would refresh my memory about the plots of computer games... lots of puzzle solutions, but no basic plot summaries.

So I figured I'd better write some of them down while they're still fresh in my mind, just in case I or anybody else wants to refer to them
at some point in the future (or in case anybody suffers a major game glitch and just wants to know what was supposed to happen in the end--
I get letters like this from time to time.) If you haven't finished Realms of Arkania yet and you don't want the plot of this game
to be revealed to you, then you don't want to read this page. Please go back to my main
Realms of Arkania page, where I give tips and reviews without
giving away any of its plot.
But if you are looking for plot spoilers, just scroll further down the page to find them!
"Blade of Destiny" Plot Summary
The party must find the fabled sword Grimring in order to fend off a coming orc invasion. In order to do this, they must find nine pieces of a
treasure map showing its location. Once this is done, the party uses the sword to defeat the orcs and save the day.
"Star Trail" Plot Summary
The orcs are continuing to threaten the land, and an elven ambassador asks the party to find an ancient artifact, the Salamander Stone, which
he can use to unite the elves and dwarves into an alliance against the orcs. Soon thereafter, an acolyte of Phex climbs through your inn window
and asks you to retrieve the sacred axe called Star Trail. The search for Star Trail turns out to be a snipe hunt (it's not clear whether
there ever was such a weapon in the first place, but if so, it definitely cannot be found within this game and the Phexites that sent you to find it
were well aware of this-- it's just a rite of passage within their church for acolytes to have to convince adventurers to look for the nonexistent
weapon.) The Salamander Stone, however, does exist and recovering it is the objective of the game. A cult of the Nameless God
is competing with you to find this stone, and if they find it first, the game is lost. If you manage to find it and rescue the dwarven leader
Ingramosch, then the dwarves and elves will ally against the orcs and the future of Arkania will look bright.
"Shadows Over Riva" Plot Summary
In this third and final game of the series, we finally learn why the orcs have been attacking: they are under the control of the sinister
Borbarad worm queen, a malevolent demonic creature that reproduces by spawning more worms and shoving them up the nose of
new victims. The worms then control their victims' actions. They have been controlling the orc leaders, the human judge Bosper Jarnug,
and a few other important people. After several alliances and many quests, the party is shrunk to insect size to defeat the demon worms
in their lair. There is then an anticlimactic ending cutscene in which the characters are informed that no one will ever believe their story and
they had better hightail it out of Riva before they are arrested for a murder they didn't commit, and the game ends.
