The Black Lodge Reference Evan’s Been Pestering For
Ebreth shuddered once more as his flashback broke and dissipated with their usual casual suddenness. Like it was slapping him in the face with it: Hey, Tor, it’s all in your fucking head. You’re doing this to yourself, and there’s still nothing you can do about it. He sat up slowly, wiping his sweaty hands on his pants. Why do you keep returning here? he remembered, and wasn’t sure why he remembered it.
“Ebreth!” said Mina, stepping out from behind some palm trees. Ebreth squinted at the palm trees. They hadn’t been there a minute ago, he was sure of it. “There you are! I’ve been looking everywhere for you.”
“Mina?” he said, squinting at her now. She was wearing a sarong in a batik print. How many people did Khyrisse bring in here?
“No, silly.” She gave him a very strange smile, and the lighting wobbled. “It’s me. It’s me.”
Ebreth recognized his surroundings first: they were standing on the beach at Boche Island, just north of Port-au-Sang. The sun was setting. He looked back at Mina again. “Lita?” he said, slowly.
She smiled again, almost sheepishly. “Surprise!”
