Curse of Monkey Island Spoilers
Welcome to the new Computer Game Spoilers section of
my gaming website. I added this section because I recently received questions about the plots of two different games which, to my surprise
and embarrassment, I had totally forgotten the answers to. Then, to my further surprise, I was unable to find any existing website that
would refresh my memory about the plots of computer games... lots of puzzle solutions, but no basic plot summaries.

So I figured I'd better write some of them down while they're still fresh in my mind, just in case I or anybody else wants to refer to them
at some point in the future (or in case anybody suffers a major game glitch and just wants to know what was supposed to happen in the end--
I get letters like this from time to time.) If you haven't finished Curse of Monkey Island yet and you don't want the plot of this game
to be revealed to you, then you don't want to read this page. Please go back to my main
Curse of Monkey Island page, where I give tips and reviews without
giving away any of its plot.
But if you are looking for plot spoilers, just scroll further down the page to find them!
Plot Summary
Guybrush Threepwood, the geeky pirate protagonist of the Monkey Island series, proposes to his love interest
Elaine in the beginning of this game. Unfortunately, the engagement ring he gives her is cursed and ends up turning
her to gold. Guybrush must go on a long quest to turn her back. Then, once he succeeds, his undead nemesis
LeChuck captures them, planning to kill Guybrush and turn Elaine into a zombie in hopes that this will make her
fall in love with him. With help from Elaine, Guybrush eventually thwarts this evil plan, and in the epilogue, the
two are married and sail off into the sunset as all the game's minor characters wave them goodbye.
Character Subplots and Secrets
Wally: Wally has converted to evil after being trapped in LeChuck's fortress in Monkey Island II and is now working for LeChuck under
the pirate name "Bloodnose." However, his heart isn't really in it and he lets Guybrush escape. In the end of the game, he is seen captive in the
scenery of LeChuck's roller coaster ride, and Guybrush once again fails to rescue him before the place is blown up.
Stan: This used-ship salesman from the old DOS games returns as an insurance salesman in Curse of Monkey Island,
after Guybrush lets him back out of the coffin he trapped him in during Monkey Island II.
Minnie and Charles: Minnie the ghost will not give Guybrush the wedding ring he needs until he lays her spirit to rest.
It turns out she was jilted at the altar by none other than LeChuck, who stole the diamond from her ring and absconded.
Once she is reunited with Charles, the ghost of a former beau, the two of them go on to their afterlife together leaving the ring for Guybrush.
Haggis McMutton, Edward Van Helgen, and Cutthroat Bill: The crew for Guybrush's ship. He must complete tasks to get them to
join him. After shipwrecking on Blood Island, the crew mutinies and returns home. They apparently remain on friendly terms with Guybrush as
they are seen in the endgame sequence attending his wedding.
Murray: This evil talking skull is basically just comic relief. At the end of the game Guybrush leaves him behind
in the Carnival of the Damned.
Rottingham: A villain Guybrush must defeat at Insult Swordfighting. Once defeated he is never heard from again.
